\u00a0An important advantage of Yaku Amazon Lodge, is its strategic location.\u00a0 It is located on one of the 1,100 tributaries of Amazon River, the Yanayacu River,\u00a0approximately 140 km. (87 miles) southeast of the city of Iquitos, capital of the Loreto Region of Peru.\u00a0 It is inside the Tamshiyacu-Tahuayo Reserve and also\u00a0adjacent to the buffer zone of the Pacaya-Samiria National Reserve, a protected area of Amazon floodplain which is 2 ‘080.000 hectares,\u00a0making it\u00a0the largest in Peru and the second largest in South America.\u00a0 It is\u00a0one of the highlights of the Peruvian Amazon.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n [\/et_pb_text][\/et_pb_column][\/et_pb_row][et_pb_row _builder_version=”3.25″ min_height=”58px” There are\u00a0different means of transportation to reach the lodge.\u00a0 By water from Iquitos, we\u00a0sail up the Amazon River or we drive along the highway to San Joaquin village and\u00a0then sail the Amazon River using a 200 HP engine.\u00a0 Our fast and stable boat is equipped with a restroom, first aid kit and life jackets.\u00a0 \u00a0Either way\u00a0to our lodge\u00a0takes means “black water” (in the language of Quechua-Inca), due to the darkness given by the decomposing leaves of organic matters. \u00a0As vegetation decays, tannins leach into the water dying it a tea or coffee color.\u00a0 There are many endemic animals that live in this type of water which surrounds our lodge.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n \u00a0The lakes around our Yaku Amazon Lodge also\u00a0have\u00a0“black water,” making\u00a0fishing and birdwatching more abundant. \u00a0The lodge\u00a0is centered\u00a0on a small tributary of the Amazon, where there is only one entrance and we are not impacted by the\u00a0presence of fishing boats.\u00a0 The lodge is intimate and solitary,\u00a0surrounded only\u00a0by nature.<\/span><\/p>\n remote\u00a0location, Yaku Amazon Lodge guarantees the\u00a0observation of many different species of birds, monkeys, sloths, dolphins, fish, caimans, butterflies, insects, etc. in their natural
