Excursions
Sport Fishing
We offer exclusive fishing tours for fishermen and fishing enthusiasts in many different black water lakes nearby our lodge. We offer basic fishing gear, but for the enthusiast your own gear may be favored. At night, we offer spear fishing around our lakes. Peacock Bass are in season from August to October. In December, guests may have the opportunity to participate in the village communal work to fish for Arapaima gigas and hundreds of Tambaqui. This occurs only once a year to allow for sustainability.
Bird Watching
We offer programs for both experienced birders and amateurs. There are unique sightings and colorful birds, which only can be found in our location. The endangered Wattled Curassow, which was thought to be extinct nearly 40 years ago, is also found in our area. Our naturalist guides have up to 30 years of experience working with professional birders. Usiel Vasquez, one of our bird guides, has collaborated with South American bird identification authors.
Hiking
Our hikes provide unique experiences to observe the different types of rainforests and the animals that live within each environment. Our hikes are taken in Terra Firme and in seasonally flooded forest – igapo and varzea. Observe creatures such as amphibians (poisonous dart frogs), monkeys, sloths, birds, insects, reptiles, etc. You may discover many unknown species of insects, providing a unique research opportunity for entomologists.
Dolphins
Pink and gray dolphins can be seen playing and jumping all year in the Amazon. They are often seen during the high water season in front of the lodge. While watching dolphins in the water, a hydrophone (an underwater microphone) and speaker will be used to listen to the dolphins communicating. You will then have an opportunity to jump in and swim with these magical creatures.
Village Visit
Be immersed in the local culture of the Amazon by visiting a village to meet and interact with the local population. Learn of their history, foods, beliefs, folklore, education, music, and life in this part of the world. Take advantage of an opportunity to share questions and answers as you exchange cultures. Enjoy a game of soccer with the men, women and children of the village!
